How we pour a concrete driveway
A driveway lasts when the work underneath is done right. Our process:
- Break out and remove the old driveway or sidewalk.
- Grade and compact the base so the slab doesn't settle.
- Set the forms and lay steel wire mesh or rebar.
- Pour, level and finish the surface, then cut control joints.
- Let it cure before cars drive on it.
Concrete or pavers?
| Concrete | Pavers | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Clean, continuous surface | Patterns and colors |
| Repairs | Cracks are patched or the section replaced | Single pavers can be lifted and reset |
| Best for | Driveways and long sidewalks | Patios, entries and walkways |
If you like the look of pavers better, see our pavers and patios page.
Steps and walkways
Front steps
Cracked or crumbling front steps are a trip hazard. We rebuild them with a solid base and a finish that gives you grip in rain and snow.
Side and backyard walkways
Narrow side yards between houses are common in Linden. We pour walkways there that slope away from your foundation to keep water out of the basement.
